Sarah Penn, Managing Director, Mayflower Consulting
Founder and CEO, Telescope

Prior to starting Mayflower in 2014, Sarah held a number of management roles in highly respected companies in the financial services sector including Asgard (now BT) and Macquarie Bank. Her responsibilities have included marketing, product and strategy across numerous business units including SMSF, retail super, financial planning, platforms, mortgages, cash, insurance, managed funds and financial planning software.

Her newest adventure is Telescope, a new online fact find for financial planners and their clients.

Sarah is a known industry commentator with articles appearing in numerous industry publications. She has a Marketing and Information Management Degree from the University of Western Australia.

Despite naming the business after the Mayflower, Sarah can’t sail. She has been on a catamaran once.

Best piece of advice - “You can’t just jump from A to D Sarah…you have to take people on the journey.” Just because you can see what the obvious answer is, you still need to take people with you.


Cameron Woods, Corporate Communications Specialist

Cameron is a broadly skilled communications manager with over 11 years’ professional experience in both internal and external communications throughout corporate, not-for-profit and government environments, including media manager for the Australia Council for the Arts.

Cameron is a versatile and skilled project manager who has repeatedly delivered innovative, multifaceted communications projects. He believes firmly in a collaborative approach to projects and is committed to sharing his skills with others in order to produce good outcomes and build a great workplace culture.

He has a background in broadcasting and extensive experience of social media and the online environment. His experience is underpinned by advanced technical skills in IT plus audio and event production. He has delivered accredited management training and managed change in a number of evolving businesses.

In keeping with the Mayflower nautical theme, Cameron loves boats and spent four years as a sailmaker (…it was a long time ago!)


Deborah Blott, Business Manager

Deborah (Deb) has an extensive background in Financial Management, Public Relations, Communications and Events, Marketing, Social Media, Human Resources and Administration.

She previously managed the public relations for high profile brands such as Champagne Bollinger, Grolsch, Teacher’s, Grand Marnier and Campari plus many recognised Australian wine brands such as Petaluma, Henschke, Brokenwood and Taltarni. As Business Manager for a boutique recruitment company she was responsible for the financial management, marketing, public relations and social media including organisation of the Advisory Board and submission of tenders. 

During her career she has completed additional training courses in public relations and computer training including MYOB / Xero accounting and she is a Justice of the Peace.

She has never really sailed before but does enjoy spending time at the beach!
